Adolf Hitler in Oz

Good always triumphs over evil.  Evil persons overreach themselves; their ambitions are bigger than their capabilities.  Evil persons underestimate the power of their opponents.  Hence it may take a while, but they will lose in the end.

Work does not need an incentive.  Idleness is unpleasant because it is boring.  Work is enjoyable because it results in the pride of accomplishment.

No human is created evil.  The human being is a social animal, desiring to get along with fellow humans and to have their good opinions.  If a human becomes evil, it is the effect of life experiences.  Hence evil persons can be redeemed by proper treatment.

Adolf Hitler in Oz affirms these propositions.

What They Say

“Adolf Hitler as ‘Reichschancellor of Oogaboo’ with a scheme to conquer all of Oz?  Sam Sackett, author of the seminal study ‘The Utopia of Oz,’ has created this extraordinary scenario – and has made it both amusing and moving.  How would a land whose meaning is ‘Love’ face Hitlerian evil, and how Hitler be changed by the land?  This is a daring book, an entertaining one, and at the end a meaningful one.”
-- Dr. Douglas G. Greene, Chair, Department of History, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia

“An outrageous premise, but very well developed, with plenty of unstrained chuckles and veins of thought-provoking ideas.  I think that L. Frank Baum would be pleased.”
-- Phyllis Ann Karr, author of The Gardener’s Boy of Oz and other Oz books
